Cancer Comfort Angels Delivers Comfort Kits to Shore Health System

Shore Health System recently received a delivery of “comfort kits” from Cancer Comfort Angels. Each kit includes a handmade blanket and other inspirational items. The kits were created by volunteers from Cancer Comfort Angels in conjunction with 90 student volunteers at Kent Island High School.

Cancer Comfort Angels, a non-profit Christian-based group in Queen Anne’s County, was founded by Laurie Rasinski of Chester, who was diagnosed with stage-four breast cancer in 2008. According to Rasinski, it was her own gift of a blanket that started her on the mission to share that comfort with others going through the cancer journey.

“I was just so touched with how it made me feel and I wanted to make sure that other women and men knew that they were not alone,” says Rasinski,. “I was so overwhelmed and touched by the love that someone could give me in this simple gesture that I, in turn, wanted to do something for other people.”

Comfort bags were delivered to both Shore Regional Breast Center at Memorial Hospital and Shore Regional Cancer Center in Easton.

“People like Laurie are truly what inspire each of us everyday,” said Dale Reddish, MSN, CRNP, Shore Regional Breast Center Coordinator. “Her generosity and spirit are such a welcome addition to our community. “
