Student Art Presented At Mentors Partners In Art Reception

A rainy evening did nothing to dampen the enthusiasm of guests for the creativity of Talbot Mentors students, whose work was presented at the organization’s Partners In Art reception, held at the Academy Art Museum in Easton on March 2nd. The event has become an annual addition to the month’s First Friday Gallery Walk.

Ten area artists partnered with students in the Talbot Mentors program to share their skills and introduce the youngsters to a variety of artistic media, including painting and photography, fused and stained glass, jewelry, basketry and mosaics. More than twenty pieces of art were created for the exhibit.

Donating their time to this year’s project were artists Gwen Davis, Lin Layton, Tom McCall, Margot Miller, Peg Papa, Jackie Pfaff-Pratt, Tom Ryan, Jennifer Wagner, Heidi Wetzel and Paul Winters.

During the evening’s presentation, Talbot Mentors Executive Director Diana Trams expressed her appreciation to the artists and mentors for making the program possible for the students. “They thoroughly enjoyed an experience unlike any other,” she noted.

Talbot Mentors Program Coordinator Jessika Best and board member Margot Miller were recognized for their efforts in coordinating the Partners In Art activities and artists.

Trams also thanked the Talbot County Arts Council for a supporting grant, the Academy Art Museum for hosting the event, and Hill’s Soda Fountain and Café for providing the evening’s hors d’oeuvres.

Artists already are signing up to participate in this year’s Partners In Art program, according to Trams, and more are welcome.
