Megan Huddleston to Perform in Cambridge
1846 was a relatively quiet year for the great commonwealth of Virginia. Antebellum was in full swing and the tobacco crop was especially burly. King Cotton called for his pipe and fiddlers, three.
As things drifted along just like the lazy Rivanna, the winds brought word of a renegade gypsy child born in the blue hills. Raised by a pack of wild pugs, with a shock of hair – red - like the fires of hell.
Little did the natives know that the Great Huddleston Prophecy had been fulfilled.
Unto the Old Dominion was born a savior (well, singer/songwriter) with a nearly embarrassingly naked, honest voice and an electric guitar strung with her own guts. In the words of Hank Jr. she "could make folks feel what she felt inside." Which was seldom pleasant or friendly and could, therefore, strike or slice a nerve in whoever dared to listen.
Megan Huddleston has since grown into a thirty-something dynamo, her red hair now long and flowing, shining with a light that comes from within, her tattoos straight out of a stevedore’s scrapbook.
Tinsmith: Music of Ireland, Scotland, and Appalachia

Don't miss this chance to hear some wonderful music -- instrumental and vocal -- from Ireland, Scotland and Appalachia. If you've never seen the playing of the bones, now's the time. Great sounds on the banjo and bouzouki, djembe and pennywhistles too.

Summer Fun on the Mid Shore!
by Mary McCarthy
Had a fantastic opportunity the other night to attend a cool waterfront summer concert in Georgetown. If you haven’t been over to the

I was invited by my pals from Jack the Penguin. In case you have not heard of them, these are a bunch of guys from Northbrook- that’s right, the subdivision here in little Cville has produced this fantastic, laid back, coolio little band. They sing Eagles, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Brian Adams, Jimmy Buffett, you name it. In fact, they sing Def Leppard by request- the form of my request this past weekend was a cloth napkin on which I had written, IN KETCHUP, “Def.” (They do a sweet acoustic version of “Pour Some Sugar on Me.”) Their motto, if you check out their

Bay Country Chorus Concert Pictures

The Bay Country Chorus, under the direction of Dave Milholan, performed Tuesday night, May 26, 2009 at the Cambridge Library.
I must disclose that I am a new member of the chorus, but the show was great, possibly because I sat this concert out due to my newness. It was difficult at times to tell who was having more fun, the audience or the performers.
The concert included the full chorus performing many old and new favorites from the standard, and not so standard, Barbershop music library. In addition to the full chorus, the audience was treated to performances by two Barbershop Quartets that call the chorus home.
Great job guys, can't wait until I am on stage with you.
