25th Antique & Classic Boat Festival comes to CBMM June 15-17

A collection of antique Silver Arrow Chris-Craft boats headlines the 25th anniversary celebration of the Antique & Classic Boat Festival, to be held at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum (CBMM) in St. Michaels, MD over Father’s Day weekend. The event takes place June 15-17 and is hosted by the Chesapeake Bay Chapter of the Antique & Classic Boat Society (ACBS).

Made in limited production in the late ‘50s, the 19′ Silver Arrow runabout is considered a collectable treasure today. Powered by a big V-8 Detroit engine, its unique design combines a wood hull with a sleek and sophisticated fiberglass exterior, distinguished by the Silver Arrow’s ‘50s-style tail fins.

The festival also features more than 100 antique and classic boats, as well as building demonstrations, maritime artists and craftsmen, craft vendors, and a nautical flea market featuring classic old boats, motors, and more. A selection of regional and grilled foods, beer and music will be provided throughout the festival.

Baywater Animal Rescue Hosts Community Baby Shower

No one attending this baby shower needs to worry about constructing frilly bouquets from used ribbons or whether their gift is the absolute cutest.  This baby shower is for puppies and kittens, so all eyes will be on the irresistible fur balls, and the cuteness quotient will already be through the roof.

The Baby Shower takes place Saturday April 21, from 1-3 PM at Baywater Animal Rescue’s shelter - 4930 Bucktown Rd. Cambridge.   People are asked to stop in during the event.  No appointments or reservations are needed.

Litters full of puppies and kittens have already started arriving at Baywater Animal Rescue (formerly Dorchester Humane Society).  Baywater has its hands full and needs the public’s help to make sure it’s  prepared for all of its babies’ needs. They are asking people to attend its baby shower or volunteer to be a foster home. Refreshments will be served and door prizes given out.

Attendees are asked to bring a gift for a puppy or kitten.  Wrapping is not necessary.  Besides foster homes, the youngsters need canned kitten and puppy food, kitten milk replacer, toys, towels and blankets.  Baywater also needs paper towels, bleach, and dishwashing detergent.  Donations will also be gladly accepted.  Please make checks payable to Baywater Animal Rescue or donate on-line www.baywateranimalrescue.org.

Talbot Humane: Employee of the quarter and Pet of the Week!

Talbot Humane is pleased to announce our Employee of the 1st Quarter 2012 as Garry Robinson.

Garry began his career with Talbot Humane as a volunteer.  It all started when he made a promise to his beloved cat.  Before she passed away he promised to volunteer his time a Talbot Humane to give love and compassion to kitties in need.   From the beginning Garry was dependable and compassionate, coming in to help care for the cats daily- even on holidays.  When a position opened for a part time animal care technician in December, he was the perfect match!

Selected by a landslide by his co-workers for his dedication to the animals, compassion and work ethic, Garry is always pleasant and kind.

Photo: Garry Robinson and “Emmett”  a 9 yr old declawed neutered male.  He is Garry’s favorite guy and is currently available for adoption
