“Writing for the Magazine Market"
Georgetown, DE, February 13, 2010 – Award winning Terry Plowman will speak on “Writing for the Local Magazine Market,” at 11 a.m., February 13, at the historic Brick Hotel, 18 on the Circle, in Georgetown, Delaware. Sponsored by the Eastern Shore Writers’ Association, this program is free and open to the public. An optional lunch follows the presentation.
Terry shares valuable tips from an editor’s point of view: Do editors prefer queries or finished products? What personifies a typical Delmarva Beach Life Magazine reader? He offers a detailed discussion including freelance acquisitions and topics editors find most intriguing.
"Terry's years of experience as a newspaper editor gave him insight on issues that were important to the public," compliments Joe Farrell, of the University of Delaware's College of Marine Studies. "We didn't have to bring him up to speed, he was already there. He added a public voice to our team, and was able to write quickly, concisely, and to our target audience."
Aspiring and established writers alike will find value in Terry’s presentation, which details how he edits submissions or if he is open to accepting photography. He will discuss such details ranging from lead times to author compensation.
